Create a behind the wall BEEF section for these nerds so all their cac this thether that call outs can go there and not have the main site look like shit

Just any beef period. So folks can do their debating or calling folks out their name behind the scenes. A lot of nerd niggas don't have lives and take stuff from intellectual or even Convo to some other shit so just dump it there since they too weird to not settle stuff in person or DM. If the beef so real or topic that important than it going plat shouldn't matter

I’m down with this. There’s plenty of threads i would ignore or just leave due to petty beefing back and forth for pages.

The question is, how do you manage that without ruining threads? Like if some beef starts in a thread about a certain game, moving the entire thread to the beef forum kills the original convo.

I think when stuff escalate s from the topic to name calling/accusations. After enough it's like ok y'all go settle this beef and let the civilized people continue on. Idk if the reporting system is set up to be able to alert mods but it not an infraction to ban if that makes sense

Makes sense.
Yeah reporting is automatic. I already had three reports on one thread today.

I more so mean (idk how the back end looks) report for beef derailments vs the type of reporting that gets you banned (mods can use their discretion on that one).

I mean push come to shove we can just ignore but I'm also thinking about the liability on the site of this blows up and gets a ton of traffic like the other site and then starts to get labeled an extremist site. All that online crashing out shit is old in 2025, that's why I'm like y'all gonna take to each other like this just kill each other in real.life lol other wise shit ain't that serious and stop derailing or making the site look bad

I think a warning post in-thread from one of the mods will dead these debates and warning them for derailing. Specific comments can also be moved from a thread and a spin-off thread can be created by the mod in this hidden "beef" sub-forum so they can continue to argue/sort it out without polluting the main thread going on and derailing the entire topic.

can you allow guests users to view attachments?

Below is a comprehensive guide detailing every step required to configure a XenForo forum so that non-registered members (guests) can view attachment images in posts, including references and troubleshooting tips.xenforo+2

Prerequisite Information

  • This guide applies to XenForo 2.x. The same principles work for 1.x, though menu names may differ slightly.xenforo
  • Ensuring guests see attachment images requires adjusting user group permissions for "Unregistered / Unconfirmed" users (which represent guests).xenforo
  • By default, XenForo does not allow guests to see attachments. Admins must change this setting.theadminzone

Step 1: Access the Admin Control Panel

  • Log in as an administrator to your forum.
  • From your forum homepage, click the tab or link labeled "Admin" or "Admin Control Panel (ACP)" to open the forum's administration back end.xenforo

Step 2: Locate User Group Permissions

  • In the left sidebar, find and click “Groups & permissions.”
  • Select “User group permissions” from the available menu options.
  • In the list, click on “Unregistered / Unconfirmed”—this is the group for guests.xenforo+1

Step 3: Adjust Attachment Viewing Permissions

  • Scroll to the "Forum permissions" section.
  • Find the permission labeled “View attachments to posts.”
  • Change its setting from “No” to “Yes” or “Allow.”
  • Scroll to the bottom and click “Save” to apply your changes.xenforo+2

Step 4: Forum-Specific Permissions

  • If desired, adjust permissions at the specific forum level:
    • Go to “Forums” in ACP.
    • Select the forum you wish to modify.
    • Click “Permissions.”
    • Ensure "Unregistered / Unconfirmed" also has "View attachments to posts" permission set to "Yes" here.xenforo

Step 5: Test Guest Access

  • Log out of your admin account or use a browser “Incognito” or “Private” window.
  • Browse to a forum thread containing image attachments.
  • Verify that images are visible as a guest user (you should not be prompted to log in).xenforo+1

Troubleshooting

  • Attachments in private forums or threads cannot be seen by guests, regardless of permission; visibility is always restricted to forums where guests have thread viewing rights.xenforo+1
  • This permission allows guests to see full attachments, but all attachment types will be visible, not just images. There is currently no built-in XenForo method to allow image viewing but block other attachment downloads.xenforo+1
  • To allow image viewing but restrict downloads of files like PDFs, consider using a third-party add-on or a custom development solution.xenforo+1
  • If guests still cannot see images after changing permissions, clear any cache and check for add-ons blocking access or overriding permissions.xenforo+1

Additional Options (Add-ons)

  • If selective attachment access is needed (e.g., allow only images, block downloads), there are add-ons available:
    • “[Xen-Soluce] Display Visitor Attachments” for enabling guest access.xenforo
    • Other solutions can hide thumbnails, restrict other attachment types, or force registration for downloads.xenforo+1

I turned off file attachments because I was worried about server space? You think we good?

ok thats preferable because dedicated image hosts are better.

would you consider implementing some sort of mirroring bot so that posts content don't have to be deleted completely? linkrot is annoying.
