we went from the Streets is Talking and the Chicken Joint to the Come Up and Dap City... got us in here sounding like a BET+ Original. The Coliseum was simple and easy. We only here because it got bushed for 24hours, so I personally feel the site should reference it in some way. TheBushes or the Coli2... or Dap City whatever. just lock it in

Fuck yea, but at the end of the day this should be a space intended by blk men, and for Blk men first, and foremost. It's important that blk men have a space for Blk men. There's barely no place online intended for Blk men.

I also don’t go to no spaces intended for women. Coli userbase got a weird obsession with trynna box the site in.
 
The Come Up was my suggestion, but I almost chose Dap City.

I think Dap City isn’t going to age as well though, or appeal to as many people looking for the sports side of things.

The Come Up feels like it has a bit more of a wider reach. More marketable.

TCU also sounds better than DC (which just makes me think of Washington D.C.)

I’m biased, but I’d be happy with either of them.

I never said this was a site for "Blk men only" everybody is allowed to join, especially women.
However, this site first and foremost should be a site that's a space for Blk men. Where blk men young or old can talk amongst each other in regards to the various things that pertains to us nationally, or globally.

2. It's not about you going to places intended for women. It's about those places exist, and women will remind u that it's their space. So why can't blk man have a space that's ours?

I definitely do feel that way. Im stuck back and forth with it though.

At a push I would let my head win and say The Come Up is the better fit, for the reasons I listed earlier, including being unclear to outsiders.
 
@thaKEAF If it’s a close at the end you could ask and see if people are happy for you to make an executive decision as mod.

What do the rest of you think about the messaging of / marketing around each of the names for sports & hip hop. Do both names work just as well do you feel?
 
I'm amused by OnlyBrehs, but I understand the connotations. My next choice is Dap City. Tbf, nobody ever said I was good at naming things. :ld:
 
All of em sound dated because most everyone posting here is dated!

Nothing wrong with a joke or acknowledging the past.

Pretending we *are* going to make it big or suddenly have advertisers pouring in is just as delusional as going with onlybrehs.

IMO if the community, as it is, isn't prepared to sustain not only the work (moderation, keeping things, healthy, and good faith discussion) of onlybrehs but the financial costs of onlybrehs then it is also as delusional as going with onlybrehs.

Clearly I'm hurt by us not going with onlybrehs:mjcry:

I mean people know what dap means, though, and that immediately lets you know this is a black thing, that's why I thought it worked so well. It's both a Coli specific thing but also a thing people know in general
