General Suggestions Thread

I like being able to do negative reactions. Only thing I'd say is it would be better if the reactions and the emojis weren't the same. Maybe the negative reactions are where this place can come up with their own and distinguish themselves from the coli.

Just an observation. Did who ever make this site, were the forced to change the names. For example I swore when I first logged on this site it had the The Coliseum. Now it's The Stadium.

First of i want to applaud the mods ive been off a day or two and already they got the donations set up added alot more forums , have done a great job so credit on that to the admin. The crucial step now is getting the server and having your own authentic name the community.forum stuff isnt nice but we get thats temporary. i will be donating as well as soon as i can. We all should root for this site success we need a place where grown intelligent black men and other posters of others races can talk sensibly without the toxic bs, cliques, cacs, coons , ADOS/FBA wars and other coli nonsense.

The second you get a new server you need to have the photoshop brother on it, like the background change is essential, aside from that kudos to the admin and the staff here. Also you need a like and dislike button and something similar to a rep system but something that cant be abused here

The politics thread should only be viewed by members.

This will help prevent people from only joining or posting in the community in order to promote their particular (and paid for) political/social agendas and or disrupting genuine political/social discussions on the forum.

You shouldn’t be able to change your username.
Or at least a time limit, something like once every 18-24 months.

As far as the sub forum titles…

- I’m fucking with “The Reel”, rest of em…eh.

- I get tryna differentiate, but don’t think it’s necessary to do it all the way “The Coliseum” sound powerful, might as well keep it. The Stadium is cool, but also seem generic.

- Definitely should keep “6 figures, 6 certs”. And “The Booth.”

- the Sports, Bullshit, & Piff sub header as well instead of “Entertainment”

I disagree. why should misinformation be freely available on the net but facts being discussed by black users be behind a wall-garden?

Think these are both valid points. Think maybe more agressive moderation is a solution. I don't think we should be a place where "all ideas are valid"

:

nah, fuck that. HL is the sahara desert :mjlol: the last thing we need is less traffic
When HL posters would get tired of their 10 poster echo chamber they would spam TLR with their think pieces and try to bait people into arguments. I just ignore them. They are wrong about most stuff. I remember they said Kamala was going to win the election.

The bold doesn't make any sense why would you want to stop people from joining your forum? Because they have a different set of politics? We gotta break out of this echo chamber HL mindset of wanting people to parrot and like and agree with our political ideologies. What's the point of having a political sub-forum if we all agree on the same topics.

You have a very good and valid point.

The thing is that many forums and social media on the whole has been messed up by organised and well funded efforts to use platforms to spread misinformation and sow division amoungst people by organisations.

This forum has the potential to grow and become very influencial which will make it a target for these organisation to use its reach.

My thinking is if lurkers, bots etc. are unable to view the political threads its less incentive for "agents" to post here because they wont be seen by as many people.

So many forums have become dead because members leave due to the forums becoming overwhelmingly political battle grounds.

Then the users who would make most of the political threads disappear when forum traffic is low :sass2:

Let me clearify.

Im not talking about peoples personal political beliefs im referring to people/organisations who do it for pay or any other gain outside of civic discussion

:unimpressed:I'm not scared of these mysterious boogie man organizations. People on thecoli would talk about how they're going to leave and then be signed in the next day with thousands of guests online. My gripe is more so people not using sub-forums.

I don’t think the negative ‘likes / reactions’ on a post should result in negative rep. I feel having more steps to neg keeps it rational and makes folks less trigger happy.
Don't think the rep system should be brought here. Negative positive reactions are sufficient.

If you're posting bs you'll get hit with the camby or thumbs down and that should deduct from your daps.

I think people have a hard time staying on topic and want to bring their personal grievances into every thread regardless of the topic. This is especially apparent in the political threads.

Someone was on negative Daps earlier. They were brand new though and I’ve just realised that it’s an overall dap counter, and not one for daps and one for negs. That’s good.

mods and the community have to step-up to combat astroturfing.

stop chasing plats with negativity:manny:

Maybe it should be made more clear which reactions. Think a thumbs down can be neutral but a camby/foh is a neg-dap. So you thumbs down a school shooting story but if someone is acting like a bozo and saying stupid shit you hit them with the camby.

Onlybrehs community ìs gay. Change that name asap

VOTE OR DIE!

That (thumbs down vs camby) seems like a good idea.

(People like bnew / get / fah these nets post news stories that might be on some “black student arrested for defending himself” or “cop gets off with no time served”…..without even asserting their own opinion….i was referring to those type situations. Not the plat chasers lol)

How does it look now? added a horizontal line and little space so pinned threads feel distinct.
Perfect, id say a lil more bold as well but this is good. I assume with the license comes greater control but for now it looks great!

Thanks!

Trending threads sidebar as a toggle for all pages to push users towards active posts as the site gains traction.

Do you mean having a global Trending sidebar or toggle so users can check hot threads from anywhere on the site, not just the front page?

Will look at more reactions once I finish smilies.
Theres so many great new smiles, is it possible in the future (obviously more pressing matters atm) to have them accessible with the other ones? I'm sure nobody cares about half the phone style emojis if space is an issue.

Also, and I realize this could get out of hand but what do yawl think about retiring some @'s? Me personally I'm just thinking about @surf and @charmander
:mjcry:

This is a pretty good idea... we can lock down specific usernames? @thaKEAF

Yes I’m down with retiring the names of the ones we lost.

Als I was thinking about deleting all the phone style emojis and use the old sohh ones . No one uses them.
